Active Youth Program!

Yesterday we went to Warrnambool Primary School to participate in an active youth program. The year 6s from Merrivale was there as well as us and Jammo. First we were introduced to olympic and paralympic champions and learnt a bit about them, then we got their autographs on drinkbottles we were given earlier. We got put into groups with the sports we were doing, I was doing table tennis and my olympians were Sarah and Russel. Once our groups were together we hopped on a bus to go to the table tennis stadium. When we got there we learnt tips about table tennis and learnt more about Russel and Sarah. I learnt thatRussel was ranked in the top 200 table tennis players in the world and Sarah was ranked 7th in the world!! Once we finished that we got to play some games of table tennis, I think I did pretty well. Towards the end some people got picked to verse Sarah at a game of table tennis. Sam from jammo, Ben and I got picked to verse her. Out of everyone who versed her I was the only one who got a point!!! After our activities had finished we went back to Warrnambool Primary to get put into different groups and go to a different activity.  First we did table tennis and I got my photo taken to go in the paper then we did volleyball then we did basketball then athletics (we got rained on) then finally we did badminton. I learnt a lot and I really enjoyed it!!!! 🙂

RingWood Band Performance

Yesterday Ringwood Secondary College came to our school and performed for us. There was 116 people in the band. They performed some songs first and then they showed us some of their instruments that they use. They showed us all kinds of instruments like: the tuba, the violin, the saxaphone and many more! 🙂 Then they asked Alex come up on stage and try to play the tuba! In the end he did but he got kissed by two of the girls in the band. Then they invited Bella get up on stage and conduct the junior band and then she got kissed by two boys! Before they finished some of the people in the band chose kids in the audience to get up and dance with them; it looked really cool. Finally for their finale they sang lots of songs mashed together and they were all sung by Queen!  I really enjoyed seeing the performance. 🙂

The Warrnambool Show

Tommorow some friends and I will be going the Warrnambool Show with Janet. Some of us are going to play chess and some of us are going to sing and others are going to do both. I am going as an MC for the singers. I am looking forward to going to the show. 🙂

Our Inquiry Topic Term 4!

Our inquiry topic this term is how can we become active citizens who contribute to the global world?

Our contributing questions are:

  • How do individuals have a say in government?
  • What are the different levels in government?
  • How do governments make desisions?

Some ways that we can be active citizens are; donating clothes and toys to St Vinnies, supporting a charity like peters project or red kite, putting rubbish in the right bins and contributing to things like National Tree Planting Day and Clean-up Austrailia Day.

I am looking forward to Inquiry this term!

My holidays

On the first week holidays I had lots of sleep-overs and I built a flying fox with my step dad Steve. Then on Sunday afternoon when my mum finished work we drove to Torquay. In Torquay we went shopping at some of the shops around town and we also went to the big shopping mall in Geelong. When we got back i had a sleepover with my friend Olivia and the rope on the flying fox broke while I was on it. I really enjoyed my holidays!
